The South County Mental Health Center (SCMHC) is a private, non-profit
corporation chartered by the State of Florida in 1974. Since its creation, SCMHC has brought quality mental health and substance abuse care to
our communities in a manner which enhances and preserves human dignity.
Through local support, guidance and cooperation, the Center has been able
to achieve its primary purpose of serving people of all ages and incomes.
Chief Executive Officer’s Message
In the world of healthcare, the vast and sometimes staggering dimensions of the physical health service
delivery system often completely eclipse the area of behavioral health.
South County Mental Health Center, through its Board of governance, vision and mission statements, and
dedicated staff and volunteers, has worked hard to educate through example. Our belief is to operate as
a working model of how a community mental health center should function.
We believe that quality care is only possible when sound clinical practices are melded with compassion and
sensitivity. The staff at South County Mental Health Center functions with this concept in mind.
Our continuous quality improvement program and JCAHO accreditation are visible symbols to this commitment.
